A Grand Entrance

Mamma Mia! Here I go with my first post. All this blog’s a stage for me to invite you to pull up a chair as I proudly present a theater blog. Be my guest! 

Hello! I’m Alyssa, and this is my blog about just theater things. 

I have been in theater since 5th grade and have learned so much since then about theater and myself. Now as a high school senior, I am filled with excitement for what the future holds for me. I plan to continue my theater journey in college next year at Martin Luther College in Minnesota and become a teacher at a school where I hope to direct a production or find a community theater nearby to continue improving and using my theatrical talents. 

Other passions of mine include scrapbooking, making greeting cards, drawing, and music. Though I have many creative-minded hobbies, I have more of an organized mindset which has served me well in the drama department as I have been selected to be on costume design and to be a student director for several productions. This gives me an insider’s look from multiple angles at what puts a production together.  

As great timing and coincidences allow it, my high school’s spring musical has just begun practice. Through this practical timing, I will take you through the process of putting on a production. Our production this year is called Once Upon a Mattress which is a fun, twisted version of Princess and the Pea.

Your audition is your first impression and gives the director(s) a good look at your capabilities. You have to use the short amount of time you have to present yourself in your best way.
